Obituary of Michael Claus

Michael Edward Claus, 67, of Forest Hills, NY, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024.  He was born August 31, 1956 in Astoria NY, son of the late Nicholas and Ann(Glossza) Claus.

He was a graduate of Mineola High School and later received his Bachelor’s degree in Education from St. John’s University and a Master’s degree in Special Education at Queen’s College.

Michael began his career as a substitute teacher and went on teach social studies in grades 9 and 10 at Christ the King Regional Highschool. In 1998 he continued his teaching career  at Birch Family Services in NYC as a Special Education Teacher and then was promoted to Principal until he retired in 2023.

Michael was a good-hearted, loving , religious man who was always willing to help someone in need.  His career was spent teaching and helping children especially those who had special needs. Michael loved gardening and spending time with family and friends.  He was a beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He will be missed beyond words.

Michael is survived by his two brothers, Thomas Claus and his wife Colleen,  Andrew Claus and his wife Christine, Ann Marie Claus, Lori Sackett, as well as many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Michael is predeceased by his two brothers John and Stephen Claus.

Michael’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Aidan’s Church, 505 Willis Avenue, Williston Park, NY 11596, on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11am.
