Obituary of Robert Francis Kalenka

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert Francis Kalenka, loving husband, father, friend and mentor, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2024. Bob led a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family, friends and community. Bob’s love for life was infectious, and he was beloved by many.

Bob attended St. John's University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1984. He continued his studies there, earning an MBA in 1991. His commitment to his alma mater was further honored with an honorary doctorate degree that he received in 2024. Bob also served on the Board of Trustees. Throughout his life, Bob remained deeply connected to St. John's University and was inducted into the Founders Society in 2022, exemplifying his significant contributions and unwavering support.

In his professional life, Bob made a lasting impact to the financial industry in his various roles at Broadridge Financial Solutions during his 32-year tenure. Most recently, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Broadridge’s Investor Communications business. Bob led many initiatives at Broadridge but perhaps most dear to his heart was the Management Training Program he founded nearly 25 years ago. Bob’s leadership and expertise were instrumental in the growth and success of this important program within Broadridge. His colleagues and peers deeply respected him for his dedication to his teams and commitment to excellence.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was an avid golfer and had a passion for traveling and investing. He often spent weekends on the golf course with his family and friends at Wheatley Hills Golf Club and watching the New York Jets. His love for sports dates back to his high school days, where he held the Herricks High School basketball all-time scoring record for decades, a testament to his talent and competitive spirit. Traveling was another of Bob's great loves, and he cherished the opportunities to explore new places and cultures with his family and friends.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Corinne, who he was married to for 38 years, and his daughters, Kristie (Rick) and Kelly (Andrew). He was a proud grandfather to Aubrey and Madison, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his brothers Rich, Ray, and Ron, who will miss him dearly. Bob's family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His legacy of love and devotion to his family will continue to inspire them.

Visitation will be held on May 22, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home in Williston Park. A Mass in his honor will take place on May 23, 2024, at 10am at the Church of St. Aidan, followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Kalenka Scholarship Fund at St. John's University.
