Obituary of Rose Giustra

Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with full hearts and fond remembrance that we share the passing of Rose Giustra (nee’ Tumbarello) of Brooklyn, NY.  Rose passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2023 at her residence in Delray Beach, FL,  just two weeks shy of her 101st birthday.  Her son, Anthony and daughter-in-law, Dorothy were by her side at the time of her passing.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Philip Giustra, and is survived by her son and daugher-in-law Anthony and Dorothy Giustra, her grandchildren Tricia Jackson, Jane and Mathew Reiffe and her four great-grandchildren Anthony Ferguson, Brianna Roach-Giustra and Philip and Nathan Reiffe.

Throughout her 100 years of life Rose witnessed more historical events, social change and technological advances than most can fathom and possessed a unique ability to adapt and accept the changing times.

The youngest of six siblings, Rose developed her sharp wit early-on establishing herself as a prominent and entertaining fixture in the lives of all who knew her.  Always armed with a story from the “old days”, Rose enjoyed sharing her favorite memories over a glass (or several) of red wine.   She particularly enjoyed crossword puzzles, game shows and bragging about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to all who would listen. Moreover, there wasn’t a casino in Atlantic City who didn’t count Rose amongst their favorite and most prolific slot machine players. A masterful cook, Rose loved nothing more than to feed family and friends and will be remembered for her handmade pizza and Sunday sauce, a legacy that is carried on by her son and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Rose’s memory to St. Jude’s.
