Obituary of Robert J. Markus

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert “Bob” Markus, 62, of Albertson NY passed away peacefully at his home on April 24th following a long illness, with his loving wife Nancy by his side.  Bob and Nan recently renewed their wedding vows in the presence of some of their family and friends at St. Aidan’s Church, where they were married 35 years ago.

Bob had many passions particularly his and Nan’s life's work as small business owners in the food industry.  Bob loved spending time with family and friends, and he and Nan delighted in cooking for them and sharing meals together.  A lifelong lover of the Arts, Bob had an encyclopedic knowledge of a wide range of musical genres as well as classic movies.  Though born and raised on Long Island, Bob and Nan were avid Green Bay Packers fans and traveled to Lambeau Field on several occasions.  Bob’s other passions included a relentless curiosity that manifested itself in voracious reading, traveling to and exploring new places, and spending quality time with loved ones.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife Nancy, sister Maura Markus, mother-in-law Barbara Jaye, father-in-law Robert Mattia, sisters-in-law Carol (Dick Webby), Lynn (late Steve) Markus and Christine (late Chris) Markus, brother-in-law Bob (Anne) Mattia, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  Bob was predeceased by his parents Steve & Lucille Markus.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bob's memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital
