Obituary of Carol A. Durante

Durante, Carol A. (nee Shedd) 68, of Mineola, NY, died peacefully at home Sunday, Dec. 26. The Brooklyn-bred Yankees and Knicks fan was born on Aug. 4, 1953. 

She is survived by the absolute love of her life, Barry — her husband of 46 years; daughter Sara and son Thomas; sister of Nancy, Stephen and John; mother-in-law to Robert and Carolyn, adored “Aunt Carol” to her many nieces and nephews and felt no greater joy than as “Gammy” to Dylan. 

She worked for decades as an RN at Winthrop University Hospital and carried that nurse’s selfless nature in life as a mother, wife and friend to many. She was incredibly loved, and will never be forgotten. 

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Jan. 3 at 11:15 a.m. at St. Aidan’s Church, 505 Willis Ave., Williston Park.
