Obituary of Angela Stiuso

Please share a memory of Angela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Angela Stiuso of Albertson, NY passed away on November 9, 2020. Reunited with her husband Alfred, son John, sister Sylvia Caiola and parents Mary and Michael Zizzo. Angela was many things -- a beloved mother and grandmother, a cherished friend, a passionate teacher, an NYU sorority tight sweater contest winner -- but above all, she was loved. Even in the face of great loss, she had an unmistakable liveliness and warmth that touched everyone within her orbit, and there were many. She was the type of person who would bring you your favorite chicken nuggets or fresh mozzarella just because, and over everything else, she valued her relationships and positively impacted so many lives. For 35 years, Angela taught fourth grade at St. Aidan’s School in Williston Park where she ran the annual stations of the cross. Even after retirement, she remained such a prominent presence in the church’s community with her service as a Rosarian and Legion of Mary. It was not uncommon to see her grandchildren waiting aimlessly for an hour after mass as she greeted leagues of friends, former students, and their families. She knew everyone by name. It was the welcome consequence of having a grandmother who changed the lives of so many. Angela also volunteered at the New Ground Organization, where breaking the cycle of homelessness mattered to her. Angela is survived by her children Loriann, Michael, and Mary Joan; her grandchildren Lucas, Victoria, Natale, Charlie, Jack, Matthew, Mariel, Tina, and CJ; her great grandson Liam; and likely, the infamous jar of mint jelly at the back of her fridge. Family welcome guests on Sunday November 15th, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Ave., Williston Park, NY (www.weigandbrothers.com). Funeral Mass offered on Monday, November 16th at St. Aidan’s Church, Williston Park at 10 AM. Burial to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Angela Stiuso’s memory to New Ground www.newground.org 516-564-4764. We know our mother was loved by many and many of you will want to come and pay respects. Respects that are well- deserved. Unfortunately, these difficult times demand that we keep everyone’s safety of paramount importance. Viewing will be very limited. Please know that her funeral will be live-streamed and able to be viewed in the safety of your home at: staidanparish.org
