Obituary of George Dillon

Beloved Dad, Grandpa, Papa Dude, Brother, Son, Uncle George, and Geordy.  He lived and breathed Local Union #3 IBEW, his daughters, grandchildren, and friends.  He was a founding member of the Sword of Light Pipe Band, a huge source of pride and joy in his life.  George served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp. His was a faith unbroken, even in the most difficult of times, and he was a devout Catholic who loved hard and prayed harder. He loved to hold court over a cup of tea at every dinner table to which he was invited.  His Irish brogue, the twinkle in his bright blue eyes, and his cheery red cheeks made him lovable to adults and children of all ages.  He could put away a pack of Carvel Flying Saucers, a box of Oreos, and a sleeve of Lorna Doones. He lived the life we all dreamed of as children!  He loved visiting family in Ireland, and referred to Ireland as “Home” his whole life.  He was a wealth of information on Irish history.  He was generous and kind and funny.  His laugh was contagious, and his ability to lose track of time unparalleled. He was literally one of a kind, and he will be missed beyond measure.

George was predeceased by his mother, Marie Dillon (Kane), his father, Patrick Dillon, his sister, Mary Ellen Neilson (Dillon), and his granddaughter Caitlin Markiewicz.

He is survived by his daughters Cara Bryson (Rich) of Middletown, Delaware, Tracey Markiewicz (Josh) of Apex, North Carolina, Amy Schepanski (Jeff) of Sugarland, Texas, and Jill Zagoory (Jack) of Morrisville, North Carolina. His grandchildren Jack, Kyleigh, Madison, Sean, Dylan, Steven, Matthew, and Amanda, and 5 great grandchildren. His brother, Eddie Dillon (Santa) of Lindenhurst, New York. His sisters Pat Dillon of Hollis Hills, New York, and Liz Nienstedt of Sea Cliff, New York, many nieces and nephews, and an incredible group of friends he loved as family.
