Chris was a faithful and loving cousin and friend. I will miss his phone calls. Chris made it possible for me to discover many names on our family tree and his stories helped me to know what my New York relatives were like. My Grandfather was Eugene Florian Simon, we shared stories about him and the New York City Fire Department of many years ago. I send you all my love and prayers, he loved you all so deeply. If he had a touch of your unique personality & energy, which I'm sure he had, we all suffered a loss that day. May the memories of his life carry you forward & bring a smile to your face. Chris and I were class mates at the Roslyn Highlands School. I remember him in second grade. It's not that my memory is so deep, Chris was someone you would never forget. A kind, sweet, gentle soul. We re-connected on Facebook and his love for Roslyn and the people he knew was evident. He was someone who touched all that met him. His passing is a great loss.

Our little stretch of Lookout Drive was very saddened to have lost our neighbor and friend, Chris Swendsen. Chris has been a friendly and animated part of our community for many years and will be sorely missed. His enthusiasm over our summertime block parties was contagious and he was always thrilled to lend a helping hand. Our deep condolences go out to his family and loved ones. To honor Chris's life, a neighborhood donation has been made in his name to the American Foundation for the Blind at afb.org. Rest in peace Chris.
