I just heard the news yesterday and am very disappointed at not having the opportunity to pay proper respect. I met Ed during a very difficult period of transition at Mineola Ambulance. During this time of intense turmoil, when the majority of good people gave up and left out of frustration, Ed stood firm and remained a guiding pillar of order and stability. Were it not for his leadership, the company surely would have collapsed. In Autumn 2014, Ed signed off on my EMT-CC sponsorship, and though we parted ways about a year ago, I'm the first person from the company to pass in 5 years. My card came in July, Ed. Thanks for believing in me. You will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to the Rummel family on the untimely loss of Ed. I was an Albertson Firefighter and EMT with Ed, in fact he was the reason I became an EMT. He is and will always be a stand up guy, please know he will be missed.

I worked with Edward at the Queens South Task Force from 2000-2005. He was a pleasure to work with. I wanted to share a story on how Edward impacted my life: My son Tyler was born in April 2005. Edward gave me a beautiful Police car piggy bank for my son. The piggy bank is still in his room 10 years later. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Retired Lieutenant William Corso
