SCHARBACH---Charles on January 10, 2010. He resided in Albertson, NY for 58 years with his loving wife Dorothy. Charles was predeceased in 1971 by daughter Maryellen. In addition to his loving wife of over 62 years, he is survived by his sons Robert (Karen), William (Patricia) and John (Jennifer), grandchildren Kathryn, Marilyn (Rebecca), Christopher, Marian, James and Deborah and great-granddaughter Mikayla. Charlie was born on December 29, 1919 in Manhattan, was raised in Queens during the Depression, and served his country during World War II. He worked for the MTA until 1980. He was an avid New York Yankee fan, and enjoyed cultivating African Violets and his vegetable garden. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus. Visitation hours are Monday 7-9 pm and Tuesday 2-5 pm & 7-9 pm at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Avenue, Williston Park, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Aidan, 505 Willis Avenue, Williston Park, N.Y. on Wednesday at 10am. Interment will follow at Pinelawn National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Charlie's memory to any charity of your choice. His family wishes to express their appreciation for their loving care to the communities of the Dominican Village and Ozanam Hall.
