Roger was born on June 2, 1945 to Joseph and Alice Schiller in Valley Stream, New York. After Roger graduated from Valley Stream High School in 1963,, he served in the United States Navy at the rank of UTA 3. He continued his life of service in healthcare at what was once Nassau Hospital, then became Winthrop University Hospital working his way to the title of Assistant Director of Engineering. One day he told his daughters he was going out to buy sneakers but instead came home with a new car. He was always full of surprises. His kindness and willingness to help others were evident in every aspect of his life, leaving a legacy of generosity that will continue to inspire us all.

Roger is predeceased by his father and mother, Joseph and Alice; his brother, Paul; mother-in-law and father-in-law, David and Eleanor Miller; and brother-in-law, James Miller.
