Obituary of Anna T. Orlando

Anna Therese Orlando was the mother of two children, Rosanna and Anthony, grandmother of five granddaughters and one great granddaughter on the way.  She is the daughter of Rosalie and Frank Tantillo both of whom predeceased her.  Anna is survived by her two children along with their spouses, Paul and Linda.  She lived her life passionately with such great love for her immediate and extended family and friends.  Married to Antonino for 57 years before he passed in 2018 and traveled with him as well as hosted numerous holidays, celebrations and gatherings together.  Anna was an extremely strong person in mind and spirit and prayed the rosary daily.  She graduated from John Adams high school in Queens, NY where she played on their volleyball team.  During her employment years, she worked as a teacher's aide in the Syosset Central School District with many children who demonstrated special educational and emotional needs.  Anna also served on various committees for the "Anonymous Angels" based in Syosset who provided tremendous support for a boys group home.  She was an active parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor parish as was her husband, Antonino.  Anna was also a very active member of the St. Joseph's Society based in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.  Family, faith and serving others were her world.  Anna was a very selfless woman who always put others first, especially her family.  She was always there for people in times of great need, especially her granddaughters whom she loved so much, in addition to family and friends.  While extremely warm-hearted, patience was not her thing and she would gladly offer her opinion whether requested or not.  Anna passed peacefully into eternal life at the age of 89 on a Sunday morning with her daughter holding her hand and her son at her side as well as surrounded by many compassionate and caring people.  Although she suffered Alzheimer's disease and metastatic bone cancer at the end of her life she was not in pain and passed with soft piano music playing in the background and the sun shining on her face.  Thank you for all the laughs too! As Mom would always say "And that's that!" May her soul rest in eternal peace!  Forever in our hearts!
