Obituary of Barbara M. Durrant

Barbara Mary Durrant, aged 68, passed away on July 24, 2024, in Queens, New York. Barbara was raised in East Williston, New York and enjoyed her community of Forest Hills where she lived for the past 33 years. Her friends loved her vibrant spirit and compassionate nature.

Barbara graduated from St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York and  furthered her education by receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany. She dedicated her career to the financial services industry, where she was respected for her insightful guidance and unwavering support to her clients.

Beyond her professional life, Barbara was  passionate about ballroom dancing and fashion, pursuits that reflected her elegant and joyful demeanor. No one could accessorize an outfit like “Barbie”. Her love for travel and maintaining lifelong connections enriched her life and those around her.

She was a beloved family member, keenly interested in the lives of her nieces and nephews, celebrating their achievements and milestones with enthusiasm. Barbara's presence was a source of joy and comfort in the lives of many.

Barbara is survived by her brother, John Durrant (Pam) of Palm Desert, California, her sister Patsy O’Keefe (Ed) of Charlotte, North Carolina and her nieces and nephews:  William Durrant (Murisa), Tricia Durrant and Carrie Durrant; Lauren O’Keefe Kellner (Tyler), Christy O’Keefe Bixler (Chris) and John O’Keefe (Tori). She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary Durrant of East Williston, New York.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Aidan's Catholic Church 505 Willis Ave. Williston Park, NY 11596 on September 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM followed by internment at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, Long Island. The Weigand Brothers Funeral Home in Williston Park, New York, is assisting the family during this time.
