Obituary of Robert Alan Signoracci
Robert A. Signoracci, our dear father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2024 reuniting with his immediate family, and his loving wife, Patricia.
Bob was born on October 18, 1943, to Duilio Signoracci and Lena (Livi) Signoracci in Corona, NY. A graduate of Flushing High School. After high school, Bob enlisted and served his country with the United States Army, and honorably discharged.
Bob was introduced to Patricia Cannizzaro through mutual friends, and after dating for some time, Bob and Patricia were married on June 1, 1969. They started their life together in Flushing, NY and had two children, Karen Ann (Signoracci) Bird, born August 3, 1978 and Michael Robert Signoracci, born June 20, 1980.
Bob made a career supporting his family as an insurance agent with MetLife, where he thrived and built a highly successful business helping families, while making lifelong friends along the way. He always had an affinity for Snoopy since then.
While Karen and Michael were in high school, Bob began umpiring softball and refereeing soccer games in Nassau County. Unbeknownst to him at the time, he had found his calling. Bob would go on to become one of the most highly decorated, well-known and well-respected officials on Long Island, serving as president of the Nassau County Soccer Officials Association and the Nassau County Softball Officials Association.
When Patricia passed away in 2003, Bob selflessly supported Karen and Michael through their studies at the University of Dayton and found the courage and strength to now become the role of mother and father. When the time was right, Bob found love and companionship with Constance Mattimiro. Bob and Connie were fortunate to have spent twenty years together, finding joy in each other’s company experiencing the best of Italian culture, food, travel and entertainment.
He was passionate about rooting for his Dayton Flyers, New York Yankees, New York Rangers, and Indianapolis Colts, watching as many games as he could, and knowing many statistics of many players, spanning decades of devotion to following his beloved teams.
One has a right to judge a man by the effect he has over his friends. Dad had so many people over the course of his life who loved and respected him. He loved his grandchildren with his whole heart, joking that he wished he could have had them first. Dad left a legacy of words of wisdom for his family, which will give us comfort, forever.
Bob is survived by his longtime partner, Constance Mattimiro; son, Michael (Jaime), daughter, Karen Bird (Robert); three grandchildren: Rose, Lena and Enzo; niece and nephew, Paul (Marlo) and Donna; extended family and friends that include: son-in-law Rick, great niece Brittany,Grandnephew William and his grandpups that he grew to love, Roscoe, Kevin and Jack (in order of his love).
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his parents, Duilio and Lena, and his brother William.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation in Dad’s name be made to SIBSPlace, located in Rockville Centre. Donations can be made by visiting their website, www.sibsplace.org.
