Bert and my mom Anne Camarata Wheeler were close first cousins. What stands out most in my memory is Bert's vivacity, kind spirit and wholeheartedly embracing life. As a very young child I often saw Bert's father, Uncle Tony, at the home of my grandparents Charles and May in Jackson Heights. We sometimes visited Colts Neck which seemed like another world -- complete with Aunt Julia, Bert, Chuck, Ann -- and tons of green grass and horses! Fast forwarding several years, my sister Janet and I were so happy to be invited to Bert and Corinne's wedding which seemed like a fairy tale. Later, as a recent graduate commuting to Manhattan, I would run into Bert on occasion, and he always took the time to be friendly and express a sincere interest in my concerns. Bert had a wonderful spirit and I will miss his warmth, sense of humor and joie de vivre. Heartfelt condolences to Corinne and family. May he rest in peace.
