Obituary of Thomas L. Dwyer

Thomas L. Dwyer passed away peacefully on November 27th on the North Fork of Long Island surrounded by family and listening to some of his favorite music. Born to Thomas and Florence Dwyer in Brooklyn, New York on December 5th, 1946. Tom spent his formative years in Carle Place, New York, before proudly serving as a Sergeant in the US Air Force.

A true entrepreneur, Tom ventured into various career paths, ultimately establishing a successful international shipping company, Worldnet, establishing business in New York, Los Angeles and London, which he ran for over two decades alongside his son.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tom was a man who was defined by his extraordinarily kind heart, contagious belly laughs and sense of humor, and calming presence. He was the kind of storyteller that could transport you through time. Those stories, kindness, and laughs will be deeply missed. One of Tom’s greatest achievements which he held in such high regard was his 45 years of continued sobriety. He cared deeply about people and helped countless people throughout his time on earth through his generosity of means and time. Tom had a passion for all things history, spending time with his family and it would be remised not to mention his love for ice cream. Always up for a scoop or three any hour of the day! A lifelong Mets fan, he was overjoyed to witness two World Series of his favorite team in '69 and '86.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Liz Dwyer. Tom leaves behind a legacy through his children Lou Elin Najmi (David Najmi), Nicole Tumolo (Mike Tumolo), and Tom Dwyer (Callie Dwyer), and is cherished as the adoring Papa of Kian, Jackson, Kamran, Mackenzie, Sami, and Shaya. He is also beloved by his siblings and a multitude of friends and family.

May the memory of Tom Dwyer continue to inspire warmth, laughter, and a love for life among all who were fortunate enough to know him.
