Obituary of Michael "Mikey" Lanzetta

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

In Memoriam: Michael Lanzetta (10/4/38 - 8/11/23)

Michael “Mikey” Lanzetta passed away on August 11, 2023, at 84 years old at his home in Roslyn Heights, NY.

Mike is survived by his wife Sandi, daughter Tara, stepdaughters Laura and Robyn, grandchildren Samantha, Ryan, Brian, Hannah, and Camden and is predeceased by his daughter Tina, his parents Margaret and Michael, and sisters Joan and Carol.

Mike was born and bred in Long Beach, NY where he was a standout wrestler and football player. He went on serve in the U.S. Army where he continued to stand out as both a wrestler and a football player.

Mike had a career as a successful small business owner. For over 30 years, he owned a thriving camera store in Manhattan. Later, he founded and managed Montauk's iconic restaurant, Lenny's on the Dock—known for views of the incoming fishing boats and the prominent display of Captain Mundus’s legendary Great White Shark catch.

His commitment extended to his beloved family, spending much of his free time with his kids traveling to Long Beach to visit his parents, for gymnastics lessons and high school football games. Mike considered himself the founder of “the selfie,” capturing many good times shared with family and friends.  A proud American, Mike could often be found in his U.S.A. beanie with cigar in hand. He was the life of every party, told stories to anyone who would listen, and made sure everyone had a smile as big as his.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Avenue, Williston Park, NY 11596 from 5-8 pm.
