Obituary of Richard Baase

Richard W. Baase

March 29, 1939 – April 23, 2023

Sunday, April 23, 2023 Richard Baase, a long time resident of Williston Park, was called to be with the Lord.  Richard is survived by his sister Carolyn Ferry of Ronkonkoma, two nieces Tracy Gleckler of Glen Cove NY, and Wendy Peters of Splendora Texas, a grandniece Briana Laderer of Long Beach, NY and grandnephew Harrison Laderer of Glen Cove, NY.   Richard attended Williston Park schools and was a graduate of Hempstead High SchoolRichard had been employed by Powers Chemco in Glen Cove as a film technician for over 40 years working to provide defect free film used in the newspaper industry prior to digital cameras.   Richard was a devoted brother and uncle to his family and especially loved by his dog Polly a long-haired dachshund.  Fierce Polly defended her territory with a keen eye especially for the UPS driver and loved to be held by Richard while they watched TV.  Richard was an avid hobbyist and enjoyed listening to music from his collection of LP records.   In 2019 Richard moved into smaller quarters when he sold his home of 73 years on Franklin Street and had to curtail much of his hobby.  Richard traveled considerably with his mother Rocelia Baase attending many Van Valkenburg family reunions held throughout the USA and also traveled to the family home in Valkenburg Holland.
