Obituary of William Anthony Swierupski

William Anthony Swierupski 70 yrs. old, passed away January 21, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

 

Visitation will be held at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, Williston Park, N.Y. on Thursday March 23 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.  Burial will take place on Friday March 24 at 10am, at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, N.Y. Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, Williston Park will be handling all arrangements,

 

Bill was born in Mineola, N.Y. on December 23, 1952, to Bill and Jean Swierupski, He attended St Mary's High School Manhasset, N.Y. and Nassau Community College in Garden City, N.Y. where he earned an associate degree in criminal justice. 

 

He joined the New York Police Department where he worked for 21 years retiring at the rank of Sergeant. He received many awards and honors along the way. Belonging to multiple police fraternal organizations and most recently he was Vice President of the NYPD 10-13 Association in Las Vegas.  In addition, Bill belonged to the Albertson Fire Company Exempts Association, since 1972 holding the position of President twice over his many years of service.

 

Bill had many friends both in New York and Las Vegas.  He relished his poker nights and weekly golf games with the "boys". He often spoke of Dave Dubocq as a great influencer in his life considering him not only a great friend but a brother and mentor.

 

Bill is survived by his sisters Diane Goligoski and Carole DiFlorio and brother-in-law AJ, from Port St. Lucie, Florida, nieces Sandy Roth, Diane and Donna Dubocq and nephew Michael Terrientes.

 

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the NYPD 10-13 organization in Las Vegas and the Albertson Exempts Association of the Albertson Fire Department for their kindness and assistance during this most difficult time.
