So of course I have to send hugs and love for the loss of your Dad, but also must echo Maureen’s sentiment when calling the house as kids! For years calling the house meant you said a quick prayer that Mr. Eckhoff would not answer, but inevitably “Yessss” was heard on the other end - then a pause … then I’d hear the roar “TERESA!!” Poor Terry - poor me hahaha! And funny for me the other number could actually end up having a similar result!! One of my favorite memories though, that still sparked a sinister laugh whenever I ran into Mr. Eckhoff happened in Elka Park where memories were made that will be in my heart always! Anyway, I was getting into bed one night talking and laughing and as I spread my feet under the covers I literally screamed and jumped out of the bed feeling totally contaminated. He had put steel wool at the foot of the bed beneath the sheet - of course wanting me to assume a hairy critter was bedding there!!! He got his wish and I can still hear him asking, “How was your sleep last night?!!” So, here’s to you Mr. Eckhoff - to the grumpy, and funny memories - may you forever sleep in peace❣️

To all of the Eckhoff clan- I’m so very sorry to hear about your loss. Your dad (papa) and your mom were very special to me and I loved being considered their “bakers dozen” or “just Maureen”
I have many great memories from childhood of them and all of you at your homes in Williston Park and Elka Park. I still remember having the “other” or “his” phone number to use when the line was busy at your house. I have to admit it was a little scary when your dad picked up and would just say…..yeeees?…
A little crazy too that I remember both those phone numbers now! I am so sorry for your loss and God Bless you all. What a wonderful legacy he left and Carl, a special unique character, will be missed by so many.
