Obituary of Gaetano DeCrescenzo

Please share a memory of Gaetano to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gaetano DeCrescenzo, known as Guy by those who loved him dearly, was born on June 17th, 1954 in Napoli, Italy. He emigrated to the United States with his family in 1971, settling in New York. Guy will always be remembered as a loving father, a great friend, and an incredible chef with amazing talent. He always showed his love through cooking and feeding his friends and family, and he loved to bring people together to share love and laughs over food. Guy is survived by his two sons, Michael, 37 and Gaetano Jr., 25, and his daughter Monique, 29, along with his life partner, Fran, and her children and grandchildren who loved him dearly.

After years of hard work, Guy finally retired in 2021 and was greatly looking forward to vacationing throughout the world with Fran and spending time with their many loved ones. Though plans may change, his presence will be with her every day. On his last night of life, the night after Thanksgiving, Guy went out for dinner with his daughter, Monique, and son, Guy Jr. After a lot of laughs and catching up, Gaetano drove home and got in an unfortunate accident when his car veered off the highway and he passed away.

Gaetano took his last breath on this earth just minutes after spending time with his loved ones and the day after a joyous Thanksgiving filled with friends and family. His physical body may have left us, but his spirit remains with his loved ones who survive him. May god rest his soul.
