Obituary of Joseph C. Wengler

Joseph Wengler of East Williston passed away on Veteran’s Day, November 11. Beloved husband of Barbara. Loving Father of Amy Keane (John), Carol Meehan (Dan), Joe (Irene), Michael Wengler. Cherished “PopPop” to 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, joining up when he was 17 years old. Joe then went on to St. Francis College and had an MBA from NYU and was retired from Motorola Corporation. He was a Governor of the Downtown Athletic Club in the early 80’s. He was a “Masters” swimmer and worked as a lifeguard at Jones Beach for 17 years. Joe’s ten grandchildren were all certified lifeguards! He was a member of Wheatley Hills Golf Club and was always “working on his swing.” Joe was a devoted parishioner of St. Aidan’s for 62 years and worked as a Eucharistic Minister at North Shore Hospital for 25 years. Joe was a kind and gentle man who loved his faith, his family, his home. We will miss him dearly.
