Obituary of Mary Lou "Hap" Grady

Mary Lou “Hap” Grady was born on August 14, 1937 to George and Lillie Magee in
Brooklyn, NY. She attended Holy Cross Elementary School, Catherine McAuley
High School and St. John’s University. Her Dad gave her the nickname Happy, also
known as Hap, because she was a happy child despite being the youngest of five.
She passed away on September 13 th , 2022 at the age of 85.

At 16 years old she met Alan and later married her childhood sweetheart. They
were almost 64 years married. Mary Lou had 2 children. Her son Kevin passed
away on 05/17/2022 which absolutely broke her heart. Her daughter Beth Ann
was her best friend, whose husband Mike she considered as her own.
Grandchildren Alyssa (Joseph Bodyk), James and Brendan will miss their Hap
terribly as well as her 4 Great Grandchildren Lucas, Brianna, Ethan, and Hayley.
She loved her family more than life.

Mary Lou devoted her life to the Blessed Mother and her Sister Rosarians - Church
of St. Aidan Rosary Altar Society. She touched so many lives as a parochial school
teacher, especially at St. Aidan and St. Peter of Alcantra Schools. Always
thoughtful and kind, very involved in her Parish and community. She was blessed
to have many good friends. Had a great admiration for her Irish heritage. Loved
Irish music , singing and dancing.

Mary Lou, Hap, lived by the motto, “Do Everything with Love.” Our family
celebrates her life, mourns her death and cherishes her memory. May the road
rise to meet you. . . until we meet again.
