Obituary of Joseph Christopher Windisch

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Friday September 9th, 2022, Joseph Christopher Windisch, loving husband, and father of three, passed away at the age of 64, at his home in Williston Park, NY.

Known lovingly as Chris, Windy, and Disch, he was born December 9th, 1957 to Joseph and Joan Windisch. Chris grew up in his beloved Stony Brook, NY, where he was a team member of the varsity lacrosse team at Ward Melville High School.  Chris’s childhood friends from Stony Brook would become his lifelong friends to this day.  Chris attended Villanova University, where he was a member of the men’s lacrosse team and received his degree in Economics.

Chris pursued a career in finance, including 28 years at Dreyfus. At work, in 1983, Chris met Jeanne O’Brien, who became his wife of 31 ½ years. In 1991 Chris and Jeanne were married at Saint Aidan’s Church in Williston Park, NY. They soon welcomed their first daughter Samantha (1992), followed by Brett (1993) and Morgan (1996).  Chris was a family man, with weekends packed with coaching his children’s lacrosse teams and attending all of their activities. Chris was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees, and passed his love of the teams to his entire family. In recent years Chris continued his love of sports and started coaching high school lacrosse.

Chris will be deeply missed by his wife Jeanne; children Samantha, Brett, and Morgan; siblings Gina (Russell), Gregory (MaryClare), and Tory (Sean); extended family, and a wide circle of friends, and neighbors.
