Maria Tierno of New Hyde Park, NY was granted eternal rest on September 1, 2022.  Beloved mother of Monica Larsen and Sara Curci.  Cherished Nonna to Lila, Jax, Talia and Gavin.  Supportive sister to Anthony(deceased) and Salvatore.  Devoted Zizi to Chrystle and Angela.  Daughter of Vincent Tierno and Esther Tierno(nee Mugavero) both deceased.  She grew up in both Brooklyn and Maspeth, Queens, attended St. Agnes High School in College Point where she made lifelong friends.  Maria was a graduate of NYU and also studied in Rome, Italy.  She raised her family in Manhasset, NY where she was very active in both school and community affairs.  Maria work many years in her family's business (Dependable Scrap Metal) and eventually became co-owner.  Maria took great pride in her home that was always filled with family, friends and the smell of good cooking.  She loved to entertain and no one ever refused an invitation to her house. She was a great party planner and did some catering in her earlier years.  Who knows where she founld the time to be an avid reader of all the latest books.  Maria will truely be missed but will live on in all who were blessed to have her in their lives.
