Obituary of Eleanor Brassill

Eleanor Ann Brassill, 83, passed away on May 1, 2022 with her children by her side. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and friend.

Born in December of 1938, in Glendale, NY to William and Marie Espich.  Devoted wife to the late James Gerald.  Eleanor is survived by her three children: Michael (Tara) Brassill of Merrick NY, James (Susan) Brassill of Port Washington, NY and Anne (Joseph) Gildea of Williston Park, NY; 6 grandchildren: Kathryn, Grace, James, Riley, Hannah and Maddie.

Eleanor went to Dominican Commercial and then held a career in advertising before starting her family. In 1966, she met her future husband James and they were married the following year. They eventually moved to Williston Park which she called home for the next 50+ years.  During that time she was very active at St. Aidan Catholic Church.  Eleanor was a member of the Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters. She was an active member of Mothers Club while her children attended St Aidan School. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD to children at her home for many years.

Eleanor enjoyed traveling, especially her annual trip to Woodloch Pines each year. But her biggest enjoyment was spending time with and spoiling her 6 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 4th at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home at 49 Hillside Ave, Williston Park, NY from 4-9pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Aidan Church in Williston Park, NY on Thursday May 5th at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Aidan Catholic Church.
