Dear John and Eddie,
I am so sorry to hear about Jimmy's passing. It was always so good to see him when visiting Meldon Avenue, and more recently at our 50th St.Aidan's Reunion. So many memories of all growing up together on our block... St.Aidan's and St.Mary's... and Jimmy's adventures and always good nature throughout all of life. I'm so sorry - it's hard to lose a brother. I'm sure he felt so supported by your love and care during his whole life. We too will miss him. He joins your mom and dad now...
I hope to see you on Meldon Avenue again.
Much love,
Annemarie O'Connor

It is with great sadness that I offer my condolences to the O'Brien family. I was a classmate of Jim's at St. Mary's High School and as a roommate afterwards attending Manhattan College. I have many fond memories and numerous times of laughter with him. He will always be remembered by me as a big guy with a wonderful heart. It always amused me to see this big red haired Irishman speaking fluent Italian. So from one Italian to another:
Riposa in pace e Dio benedica il mio amico Irlandese!
(Rest in Peace and God Bless my Irish friend!)

Jimmy, (James Morgan O’Brien) and I are 1st cousins, and Eddy, Jimmy, and John all grew up together. Their father Edward T. Sr. was my Godfather and it was a wonderful time for my four (4) siblings and cousins to grow up together. We were all quite the handful.
Jimmy was always an inspiration, really smart and observant. He knew things about almost everything and it was always an education when I spoke with him. He had a great sense of humor, a wonderful smile, was an avid sports fan and was loved by all.
Jimmy graduated from Manhattan College and he enjoyed marching in the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade with his alums. He also went to school in Italy and learned Italian to pursued a veterinary degree. Although he changed his career path, his time in Italy brought him fond memories and lasting love for animals. I remember Jimmy returning from Italy with a cat.
Both Jimmy and John were great outdoorsmen and loved to camp on the beach and go fishing on their boat. Always at his side was his wonderful Labrador retriever Jasper. Jimmy had some tough times health-wise these past few years but Jasper, with the help of his brothers John and Eddy, all his cousins and friends, helped him soldier on. As Jimmy used to quote from the O’Brien Crest motto, “Strong Arm Overhead”.
I will miss Jimmy and his stories as long as I live but know he is reunited with his beloved Mother Mary (Marie), his Father Edward T. Sr., Grandfather Thomas H. Sr., Grandmother Kathleen, his Uncle Thomas H. Jr, and his Aunt Grace. With the grace of God, we will all be together again in heaven. Until then I will keep all of you are in my prayers.
Love you cousin,
Thomas H. O’Brien III
