Joe was the first person from our local NBCA neighborhood association I had met. We worked closely on civic and environmental issues when Riverhead was writing it's Master Plan in 2003. He had so much energy to participate in improving our town! He was fun to be around, always funny and friendly and had a lot of patience. I really enjoyed working with him and knowing him, sad to hear he is now gone.

I only had the pleasure of meeting my daughter in laws grandpa a few times, I am grateful for those times. One Thanksgiving he had taken a slight tumble and of course
every one was watching him like a hawk after that so every few hours he would pretend to trip, He had my laughing so hard. He was an extremely intelligent and fascinating man the stories he shared and the things he did in his life well I just felt a little bit cooler because I could say I knew him. You will be missed.

It was always a pleasure to run into Mr. Hoffman around the neighborhood, either at the library, or out with Kitty at the supermarket, or on his walks on Shadow Lane. Joe was a great conversationalist! Condolences to Kitty and the Hoffman family.

I had the privilege of meeting Joe when he was president of the East Williston Library Board. We enjoyed his many interesting stories of working in the NYPD, and with Mayor Ed Koch. Joe is a true gentleman. Heartfelt condolences to Kitty, and the entire Hoffman family.

I was looking for my friends obituary and stumbled upon Mr. Hoffman’s. I felt compelled to send my condolences to the family and to say you should be very proud. He seemed to be quite an impressive person. Sorry for your loss.
