Obituary of Lena Battaglia

Please share a memory of Lena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lena Battaglia passed away peacefully at home on the morning of January 10, 2022 at the age of 95. Born in Brooklyn, she resided in Franklin Square, NY for the past 42 years.

She lived her life as a woman of grace and dignity and one full of love for her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband Sam (2009) for 62 years. She was a caring, loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Family was the most important thing in her life.  Not only did her immediate family mean the world to her, but her nieces and nephews added special joy to her life.

Lena was devoted to her faith and in her journey as a Jehovah Witness met many wonderful people with whom she became friends. She had a multitude of friends who she cherished dearly.

She was a Scrabble aficionado who never passed up the opportunity to “have a game”.   She was thankful for the little things in life and would want to be remembered for her positive outlook.  In the words of Lena, “Remember to think highly of and love yourself”, play games to keep your mind busy, find the good in people, and always save room for dessert!”

Lena was predeceased by her husband and her five siblings.  She is survived by her sons, James (Pat), Gary (Joan), and Mary Ellen (Charlie), her nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
