Obituary of Gerard Hyl

Gerard (Gerry) J. Hyl of New Hyde Park, NY passed on Monday March 29,2021 at Spring Village at Poconos in East Stroudsburg, PA. Gerry is predeceased by his parents, Theodore (Ted) and Hedwig (Edna) Hyl, his brother, David, and his sister, Joyce Elders. He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen, of 28 years. He is also survived by his children: Susan, Paul (Anna), Keith (Michelle) and stepchildren: Kenneth, Chrissy, and Jim Colabella. Gerry was a dedicated grandfather to Michael Jr., Sarah, Hannah, Victoria, Emily, Lola, Sophia, Cassandra, Olivia and Ava and step-grandfather to Thomas. He left an older brother, Ted, and a niece, Tina, behind as well. Gerry was a Marine Vet who graduated from Queens College with an Associate’s degree. He was retired from Con Edison where he was an electrical technician. His loved ones would describe him as a kind, loving, quiet, caring, easy going family centered man.  Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Avenue, Williston Park, NY. Funeral Mass will be at 10 am, Tuesday, April 6,2021 at St. Aidan's RC Church, 505 Willis Avenue, Williston Park, NY. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY
