John G. Lasek, age 67 of Albertson, NY, passed away the morning of December 29, 2020, due to complications from COVID-19 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY John was born on May 5, 1953 to Bertha and Frank Lasek, in Huntington, NY. He grew-up in Huntington Station along with his brother David. John graduated from Walt Whitman High School in 1971. He continued his education at Mohawk Valley College in Utica, NY. Upon his return to Long Island, he began a job with TSS (Time Square Stores) as a part of the Loss Prevention Team in Melville. Through his job, John met his future wife of 43 years, Karen. They met one cold night when Karen’s 1974 green Maverick wouldn’t start after her evening shift. Karen said to John, "my Dad said 'don’t let anyone touch your car' " and John responded “do you want to get home? Let me look at it”. John and Karen married 2 years later on May 7, 1977. In 1980, John was blessed with the start of a family with the arrival of their daughter, Kimberly; and soon a second blessing in 1981 with the arrival of their son, Jason. John was deep in his faith with God. He was a faithful servant at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Huntington and continued his practice at St. Andrews/Church of the Resurrection in Williston Park, NY. He served on the vestry at St. Andrews and enjoyed being the Auctioneer at the Annual Church Auction. John was active in the Boy Scouts (BSA) in his youth, Troop 123 in Huntington Station, where he reached the rank of Eagle Scout. John was selected as the Senior Patrol Leader for the 1969 National Scout Jamboree in Idaho representing Suffolk County. John was a member of the Albertson H.&L., E.&H. Co. No. 1, in Albertson, NY, for 38 years. The highest office he held was President from 1992-1994, held a position on the Board of Trustees from 1999-2005, and was President of the Albertson Exempt Association from 2005-2006. He was involved with both FASNY as a Director, and the Nassau County Firemen's Association where he held the office of President in 1999. John is survived by his wife Karen; brother David (Nelly); daughter Kimberly; son Jason (Emily); and grandchildren Julia, Teddy, and Quinn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bertha.
