Obituary of John Alfred Bauman

It is with a heavy heart that the family announces the passing of John Alfred Bauman (12/14/1942 - 10/31/2020) John is predeceased by his parents, Evelyn (Rathje) and Alfred Andrew Bauman. Beloved husband of Marilynn, (nee Schroeder for 55 years) loving father of James J. (Martha) and Thomas J. (Michelle) Adored Grandpa to Andrew Thomas, Scott Parker and Mackenzie Shea. John was a man of Faith throughout his life being a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for over 40 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 144, and the Williston Park Seniors but mostly a very proud U.S. Marine serving during Vietnam and Past Commandant of the Port Washington Marine Corps League Detachment 614. He was Patriotic through and through. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Because of his love of this Country he traveled by car visiting 48 states, cruising to the 49th, missing only one. He last 2 ¾ years have been spent with Veterans at the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, NY where he received excellent care. John will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We plan a celebration of his life at Weigands Funeral Home 49 Hillside Ave, Williston Park, NY on Monday November 2, from 2-5 and 7-9 PM. American Legion service @ 7:30 PM. Marine Corps League service following. Comforting Service by Pastor Jake Allstaedt @ 8:00 PM Funeral Church Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church 47 Winthrop Street, W.P. Tuesday, November 3, with limited seating due to Covid-19. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 47 Winthrop St. W.
