I have fond memories of Peter and his wife Pat. Pete was Chief of the Albertson Fire Department at the same time as I was Chief in Williston Park and I learned a great deal from Pete. I appreciated his guidance and advice on complicated matters... and his and his Department's mutual aid on numerous firegrounds. Peter was one of the finest firemen and finest leaders I have met in the fire service. Albertson has lost an outstanding member. I hope he will continue to look down on all of us and help us during our troubled times. Rest in Peace Chief Peter J. Tennis.
Pete was a fine man with his family and in the world and a good softball player who was a teammate of my father (who took this photo) and of mine after I joined the AFD. I trusted him as a firefighter and learned from him; and he became a good chief. In this photo he is staking out his place in the third base coaching box at Searingtown School field. We won a lot of tough games and had fun after them. God Bless you Peter.
