My condolences to Bob Hesse’s dear, devoted wife, Rita and daughters - Jacqueline, Jeanette and Jeanmaire. Bob and all the family will be remembered in my prayers.
As a Korean War Veteran and Battalion Chief of FDNY, Bob chose a life of service to others. He was a very kind man, always ready to share his warm personality. It was a privilege to know him.

My sincere condolences to Rita and all the Hesse family on the passing of Bob, such a wonderful man. My family’s friendship with the Hesse family goes back many years to when my patents, Eva and Charlie Breslin met Rita and Bob as neighbors and parishioners of Incarnation Church in Queens Village. My husband Brian and I met Rita and Bob at Holy Name Society events and Brian often recalled the great times he and Bob had while decorating the church at Christmas time. Years later, we were so fortunate to rekindle our friendship with Rita and Bob through American Legion Post 144, again enjoying many good times together. Rest In Peace, Bob. You and your family are in my prayers.

Bob Hesse was my first Lt. on the FDNY. Great role model for a new firefighter trying to learn the job. Kept in touch thru the job as he moved up the ranks of the department and then to my surprise Rita and Bob moved to our great Village of Williston Park.
RIP Bob.

Mr. Hesse was such a dear friend to my late Grandfather Tom Gordon, growing up we all loved hearing the stories about Tom & Bob making the "journey" of the bus and trains to go see their sweethearts Marie and Rita. My grandparents, Tom & Marie Gordon were so lucky to have Bob & Rita as close friends throughout their lives and I know Tom & Marie were up in heaven ready to meet Mr. Hesse with open welcoming arms. I grew up with the Minary family in Hollis and at a young age remembering Bob courting Rita by bus and subway....he became life long friends with Tom Gordon who was courting my sister, Marie...Bob was dedicated to his family, painting homes to help augment FDNY salary and studying hard and rising to the rank of battalion chief....
only fond memories of Bob and his beloved, Rita...
