Obituary of Mary Morrissey

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Private Immediate service only at this time. MORRISSEY, Mary, of Oakland Gardens, NY, passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2020 at the age of 102. She was a wonderful person, truly kind and sweet. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved bowling, canasta, Scrabble, Perry Como’s music, puzzles, butter cookies, greeting cards and tea. She attended daily Mass for most of her life. Seemingly unstoppable, she lived long enough to meet her great granddaughters in 2013, and they were lucky to be able to know her. Great Grandma absolutely adored Ashley and Kayla, and she was happiest when she got to meet them and spend time with them. Hers was not a Covid-19-related death, it seems necessary to point out now. In her last years, she suffered from dementia and kidney failure, and her body had been in the process of shutting down for some time. Interestingly, she was born during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic and died during the current coronavirus pandemic, untouched by either. She will be greatly missed by son Richard, daughter-in-law Susan, grandson Chris, granddaughter-in-law Vicki, and great-granddaughters Ashley and Kayla. Private internment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Queens beside her late husband, Francis Morrissey, who died in 1999. Rest in peace, Mary, we love you so much!
