We were so sorry to learn of Fr Ted's passing on 4/5 from Coronavirus. We met Fr Ted when he became our new Pastor at St Mark in Shoreham. He had so much energy and enthusiasm with plans for our youth through "Rap" and "Acts" groups for adults. We were all excited to be a part of it. 20 years ago, my husband and I moved to Florida but kept in touch via Christmas letters and contact with mutual friends, Joan VanderPutten and Eileen Morello. I was aware Fr Ted had some physical problems that made it difficult for him to get around. So after leaving St Mark and moving to Atria, Eileen stepped in to drive him to nursing homes and assisted living locations to say mass. His trust in God through his prayer life was evident. He was so much fun to be with and was brave enough to allow me to lead prayer services after attending PFI. We will miss him and pray that your heart finds comfort in faith, family and friends as you grieve your loss. Our deepest sympathy

We were so sorry to hear of Father Ted's passing. He lived his life in the service of God and his people. Father Ted gave my late husband Deacon Edward Dietzler the chance to become a deacon. After Ed had been rejected by his home parish, St.Joseph's, where Father Ted had previously served, Father Ted reached out to Ed and offered to have him serve at St. Mark's.
Father Ted baptized three of our grandchildren.
Father Ted stood with me and prayed as my husband lay dying and he was there with me again when God blessed me with another chance to marry, officiating at the wedding.
I was raised as a Lutheran and when God called me to convert, it was Father Ted who was there to confirm me into the Catholic faith. .
Father Ted had a great sense of humor and kind manner. He was always available to listen. Through all of his illnesses, he never gave up. He continued to serve even when he needed to use a motorized scooter.
Father Ted was always there to support me and my family in the good times and the difficult sad times. He will be sorely missed.
Rest in peace Father Ted.

Dear Maureen and Jim,
I was so saddened to receive your phone message last week. Fr. Ted is now at
peace, free from the pain he's endured for the past few years. You'll think of him
every time you'll look in the mirror, Jim - you both look so much alike.
You have both been very loyal to Fr. Ted during his many past illnesses. A few
years ago, I remember you driving many times during snow storms, to tend to
his needs while in a Port Jefferson hospital. I'm sure the many happy memories of
your youth will bring you comfort, Jim. You, too, Maureen, always spoke so
highly of Fr. Ted....you always took good care of your "two boys".
Rest in peace, Fr. Ted, Faithful Servant of Our Lord.

I don't know where to begin how this man touched my family's lives. He was always there for you if you needed, and always looking for a way to make people happy. We always loved to get together with him for our Adult Rap Meetings in the beginning always at one of the Rap Leaders' homes where he would do mass and communion for us. It was the most beautiful of times. We had our sharing with the other leaders and we would say we would love to have RAP for adults. Later when he became the pastor of St. Mark's in Shoreham he introduced the program for Adults called ACTS meaning (adults coming together to share). There are tears in my eyes while writing this, also smiles thinking about all the good times we had together. A wonderful man who will be sorely missed and am so sorry this terrible virus took him. Fr. Ted, I remember you always say, "Let the spirit move you" Thank you for all you did for every life you touched. Rest in Peace my Friend. Love your friends, The Olsons', Tony, Florence Dawn, Bob, Heather, Joey, Jessica, Lena and Joe Joe. I see you enjoying your Rock and Roll songs, especially Elvis. You did your job and God saw fit to take you home! Sorry for your loss Jim and Maureen. He was a wonderful loving man.

Fr. Ted always promoted community through our faith. He would encourage us to join and be part of one of the many ministries he developed and guided over the years. I remember asking him if we still had a craft fair fundraiser? He said “would you be interested in helping out? I said “sure I can help out” 15 years later and with the help of 50 to 60 volunteers to assist me, we had a craft fair that raised a lot of funds for St. Marks and it was done with joy. Thank you Fr Ted for all the beautiful faith filled memories and for having such a love of community. God Bless you. Love Rosemary and Bart Giuliano

I have known Father Ted since I was in high school. My high school friends and I loved him right away. He was so charismatic and always smiling! He was our religion teacher in High School and he related so well to all the kids. He loved our sports and his favorite baseball team (Mets-if I remember correctly), loved to smoke ( a no-no just saying "Don't tell, Sister Jane!" )) and even talked my boyfriend into asking me out! My parents and siblings came to love him too as he was a big part of St. Dominic's High School AND parishl. Fast forward, to when I had my 2nd child, my brother was playing college football and couldn't come home to be her godfather. So we waited til Thanksgiving til he came home. Only problem, there weren't any churches that did baptisms that weekend. I called Father Ted who was at St.Gerard Majella then and he said "bring her in! I'll baptize her and I'll get to see the whole family again!" Years later, he was transferred to our home parish of St. Marks. I went up to him after Mass and said "Hi, Father, do you remember me?"He said, "Hey, Capozzoli, get over here! How the heck are you? Fill me in on everyone!" I said ,"This is Kim who you baptized when she was 3 months old!" He said," Oh, she turned out ok! Guess I did a good job!" Father Ted had a great sense of humor and related very well to all who knew him..especially teenagers. He was a big kid at heart! That's why he did so well with his R.A.P. program.
I remember in particular one sermon at St.Mark's. He asked everyone who wanted to go to Heaven to please raise their hands. Well, of course, the whole parish raised our hands. He then said " hands down.. now raise your hand if you want to go TODAY!" and he launched into several points he wanted to make about living a good life NOW! He knew how to get you to listen, how to make his points, and how to engage his parishioners! He always went above and beyond for everyone!
Father, you will be sorely missed! Wish everyone in Heaven a Happy Easter for us and please ask Jesus to help us all heal from this terrible illness that took your life! May you bask in the love of God for a life well lived!

Condolences to the Howard family and all his parish friends, especially my dad Tom Harding. Fr. Ted helped us through the death of our mother and was a staunch friend over the years. He presided over the renewal of my wedding vows, funerals and dad's marriage to Mary. His love and kindness was truly a result of following Jesus's word and example. It would be nice of Fr. Ted to put in a good word with the Almighty for his beloved Mets! God Bless.

I was privileged to know Ted when we were students at Cathedral College in Brooklyn and in the seminary at Huntington. He had a great sense of humor, and an ability to see through to the core truth of any situation. I admired his spontaneity and outspokenness. He faced his recent ailments with grace and courage. I'll always remember him with great affection.
