For the better part of 3+ years Patrick's Pub was a second home to me.
truly a place "where everybody knows your name.
favorite memory was the night I wanted to order a piece of raw blood sausage. (apparently illegal).
after some genial conversation and cajoling we were finally able to sneak it out right before closing time to ensure the sale would be under the radar.
the steak tidbits were always my first choice for dinner on most saturdays. from 968 thru 1971.
RIP Peter. wish i had been there for you at the end.

Condolences to the Mockler family. Growing up in the Little Neck / Great Neck area Patrick's Pub was a Landmark. My brother Colin and I and the rest of the McDermott family were frequent visitors over the years. A fantastic place to enjoy a meal, a pint, and the worlds greatest Irish Coffee. Mr Mockler and all the staff (Mike McP, Sean, Betty etc.) were so warm and inviting it was like family. I often think of those days very fondly.
Best Wishes,
William "Billy" McDermott

Frank Mockler – Portrait of a life well lived.
He was the Patriarch of his family, and he loved them dearly. He and his wife Marge, raised three wonderful daughters. Over the years the family grew by adding three son in-laws and eventually four grand children. His story is that of a man who truly lived the American dream. He grew up across the sea and came to this country as a young man. He served in the Army, and during that time developed a love of cooking. After his service to the country, he worked in some very popular restaurants in the city. Feeling an entrepreneurial spirit, he and his brothers decided to open a place of their own. Patrick’s Pub soon became the place to be in Little Neck, and eventually a land mark Irish restaurant in New York. The food was great and it had a wonderful bar, but the secret of their success was Frank’s infectious smile that greeted customers as they entered and made them feel welcome. He was a people person, and got to know many of his customers and their families. It was the kind of place that everyone felt at home. He built on his success at Patrick’s, and opened two more restaurants and an Irish gift shop. Frank became an important businessman in the community receiving countless honors and accolades. Never taking his success for granted, he felt that it was important to give back to his community, and his efforts help raise thousands of dollars for local charities, including the Queens Children’s Hospital. When the Pub closed its doors after more than 40 years in business, it truly was a sad day for Frank, the family, and everyone who had come to love the place. Frank’s later years, as always, was dedicated to family and friends, and after 92 years he has moved on to a better place. To those of us that knew him and loved him, our lives have been enriched in countless ways, and we owe it to him to celebrate a life well lived.
