Obituary of Joan L. McAleese

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan McAleese, the last surviving sibling of the 13 children of Thomas and Catherine McDonnell, passed quietly Monday morning February 10th. Joan was born in 1927 and raised in New York City until she married Dick McAleese and moved to Williston Park in 1951. With her beloved husband of 63 years living in the house the McAleese family has owned since 1928, she raised four adoring children: Lois Olmstead, Rich McAleese, Cathy Farrell and Chris McAleese. In addition she warmly welcomed to her family Bill Olmstead, John Farrell and Mary Alice (Moore) McAleese. She is sadly, but lovingly missed by her grandchildren Erin and Jack Farrell, Ken Olmstead and his wife Ali Funk, Eric Olmstead and his wife Sophie Bauer and their daughter Josephine, and James, Daniel and Michael McAleese. Joan was an active member of Saint Aidanś parish where her children all attended school and where she managed the Cafeteria for many years in the 1960s thru the 70s. A lifelong devote Catholic and member of Saint Aidanś for 69 years Joan was generous, kind, and warm to anyone she met. She leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and their children now spread out across the country
