I just learned this week of Dave Wibben’s death in 2020. I have been a nurse at LuHi Summer Programs for many years and each day during those many summers, I would encounter Dave walking up the hill to the main building and share a bit of conversation. He was the most cheerful, pleasant, faith-filled and kind man!! He was a positive presence and truly was a ray of sunshine for all of us. I am deeply saddened by the loss of Dave especially for his wife and children for whom he always expressed his greatest love and admiration. Dave’s life was a life so well lived! May he truly Rest In Peace.
With my deepest sympathy,
Cathy Crimmins

Dear Wibben family, I just found out two days ago that Dave has passed. I was so sorry to hear this. I worked with Dave at LUHI and I enjoyed his company and friendship. I also partnered with Dave in his school with the Jump Rope for Heart fund raising event. I would sit at his table and listen to him talk to his students. I looked forward to hanging out with him. Again my condolences.

David, my childhood church basketball teammate, and best friend. Our paths in life were different, many miles between us, and no contact. When I saw you at my brother's funeral a few years back, you had the same smile and loving presence, that I remembered. Our loving friendship is eternal. Even though we lost touch, you have always been in my heart. I am so deeply saddened that you will not be here anymore. I just heard, and we are now in August. You are, and will always be in my heart. When you named your second child Jeff, after me, I was so proud. Life on Earth will never be as good without you, but your loving memory will surely make me better. You will always be in my heart....Love Always, Jeff Liebert

I had the pleasure of working with David at The Long Island Lutheran Camp- He always displayed his christian values and was the most down to earth and nicest person I have ever worked with. Always a smile on his face and a positive remark or gesture about anyone. A man of humility, integrity and compassion with not one bad bone in his body. He was a great model to the children at the camp as well as to the coaches. Rest in peace as heaven will be welcoming an angel.

David was a beautiful, accomplished and contributing member of the Carle Place community. He was one of the most willing and dedicated student-athletes we had the privilege to coach in the history of Carle Place athletics. Most importantly he was a gentle man who demonstrated his Christian Faith in his deeds, in his actions, in his speech and in his demeanor, every day in every way. His is a deep loss to all of us who loved him. But his inspiration and his example will never be forgotten.
