Obituary of Joseph G. Delaney
Joseph George Delaney, beloved brother, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend, passed away at his home in Williston Park, NY. “Joe” or “Joey” was born on a day of love on February 14, 1952, and died on a day of gratitude on November 28, 2019, at the age of 67.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Genevieve; his sister and brothers, Marilyn (Robert) Gruber, John, Augustine and Michael, and brother-in-law, Dennis Kelliher. Joe is survived by his sisters Genevieve (Joseph) McCarthy, Virginia Kelliher, Anne Marie, Eileen (Thomas) Schmidt, Maureen (William) Casey, and Helen Harris. Joe is also survived by twenty-three nephews and nieces, and many life-long friends and extended family members that were very dear to him.
For the majority of his career, he worked for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey at JFK International Airport, and was a life long parishioner of St. Aidan’s Church in Williston Park. He loved to travel with family and to spend time with dear friends in Florida, California and Texas. He was a fan of thoroughbred racing and loved visiting Saratoga Springs, NY during the summer.
His family and friends will miss Joe’s warm, kind, and gregarious personality, his smile, and the countless acts of unconditional love and support that he bestowed upon those that were blessed to know and love him has a brother, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend.
