I can only echo my brother's sentiments, he was very much a father figure and also a big brother in many ways. Always quick with a joke or some kind of practical (or sometimes unpractical jokes... especially when underneath my car working on it) you could always count on his advice when it came to anything mechanical, spiritual, physical or practical.... I count myself very lucky to have a neighbor like him.... he might be gone but, not forgotten! My condolences to the family.

Dolores Liptak, RSM posted a condolence
Sunday, November 3, 2019
The deepest sympathy from the Liptak family and from my religious congregation, the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.
Bob was my dearest cousin. He often visited us, in Connecticut. My brother, sister, and I all loved him dearly. We were so proud of his accomplishments in both the army during WWII and on the NYC police force. Impressive!!! It was to us. But we also loved him for the good man, the good father he was.
His loss is hard for me to take but the Liptak family all were on board to greet him as he entered heaven! There was great joy when he arrived over a week ago.
My sympathies and love to all the Newberts.

The Newbert family was closer to my family than any blood relatives. I think Bob understood me better than my Dad. When I was about 10 years old, he hung me on the telephone pole by my belt on one of the step peg. He made me apologies to my Mom for saying something snotty before he would let me down. As it was with my dad, he was a practitioner of tuff love. Many fond memories, especially the snow ball fights across the road while shoveling out.
Thanks you for your service Tail gunner and Police officer Newbert.
