Obituary of Ruth G. Kulaga
Ruth G. Kulaga died Thursday, September 6th at the New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center from complications of Parkinson’s Disease and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. The only child of Bette and George Geils of New Hyde Park, NY, Ruth was born in Jamaica, NY and attended school in New Hyde Park. After graduation, she moved to New York City where she lived for the rest of her life. Ruth’s interest in entertainment and music lead her to a career in production, first in radio and later in television where she became a member of the DGA. She later worked as the head of the Music Department for an advertising agency until her interests changed and she trained to work in legal documentation, a position she held at several New York City law firms until her retirement in 2003. With her partner of nearly 40 years, David Prentice of New York City, she enjoyed the beauty of our National Parks from Acadia to Alaska and celebrated the music, food, and culture of New Orleans, LA with regular trips to the annual Jazz Festival. Later in life her love of gardening, an activity she shared with her father, was re-discovered. Ruth was an active member of the Nyack NY Community Garden and looked forward each year to helping open the garden and the Pot Luck Dinner in the fall. Her beloved cousins John Moschitta of Burbank, CA, George and Joan Brush of East Meadow, NY, Judy Allam of Monroe, NJ, Jill Moschitta of Uniondale, NY, Jane Moschitta of Port Jefferson Station, NY, Joy Sabatino of Port Jefferson Station, NY, Andrew and Nancy Christian of Coram, NY, and Marsha Cirulli of Port Chester, NY survive Ruth.
