Bob
I'm still grasping this, I just spoke with you and was hopeful that we would spend some time together this week.
Well we did but not as hoped for, I miss your voice and our conversations small and big. I'm a better person because of you. My thoughts, prayers and love to all your family and our family of friends who miss you,
You're always with me Robert my man.

I have been 'meditating' deeply on Bob these past few days. In the O'Neill family, we were happy and proud to have him as a brother.
Also, he did have a lasting impact on my politics and adventurous, creative spirit, that is for sure. Ultimately, I moved to Europe and have been told I changed my world fairly radically, on a few levels.
But you know what? In many ways -- beginning way back in the mid-eighties, in Albany -- Bob had started to cure me from being a money-grubbing technocratic Reagan Youth. (But with quite a delayed reaction, from me)... I came late to European liberalism, about twenty years after Bob had plumbed its depths with both study and lots of empirical street-smarts, and had a fully-developed a social vision. But not all too late for me, thankfully. So -- he lives on in many ways, in hearts and minds. Long live the revolution against social inequality !!! With love to Bob and his whole family, bro' Sean.

I was so sorry to learn about Bobby's illness and death, and wish I could be there with you at his funeral to give a real hug and not just a message.
I remember when Bobby and the family visited Augusta in the 1970s, and how impressed "Chip" and I were with Bobby's classical guitar playing. He had a wry smile, a dry sense of humor.
As the years passed, I was happy to hear about his achievements in university, his relationship with Julie, the joy of Emily, and the generous work he did in prisons and helping people with addictions. I always admired his courage and spirit, and his dedication to helping others.
I'm so sorry for your loss.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Bob as an adult, but I remember him fondly from our years together at St. John of God. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his friends and family as they mourn his loss.

SO sorry to hear of this---Bob and I worked together for many years; he and my best friend, Cyndy, were a couple for a time----Bob was a great guy---intelligent, humorous, outspoken and a devoted and dedicated worker in the substance abuse field---he always went the extra mile to help others. My heart and sympathy goes out to all of the family at this sad time! Beth Liotta-Tyler

We can't express how deeply we feel the loss of one of our finest friends and one of the kindest souls to all who had the privilege to have know Bob Beatty.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Emily, Mr. & Mrs Beatty, Terry, Mary, Michael, Jimmy and all of Bob's family.
Saying goodbye will be one of the hardest things to do but Bob has made each of us better people and he will forever live in our hearts and minds as someone who could see more than most who had 20/20 vision.
Bob's sense of humor, candor, perception and friendship will be always held dear. I feel blessed that I can say Bob was our childhood friend and remained such a good friend right up to the end!
Rest In Peace 'Robert my man!'

I still can't believe it. You were my best friend and a brother to me and life just isn't the same. I have often said "God sends his angels in your darkest times, when you need them the most". You will forever be my angel, my friend. You were always there for me to support and encourage me, and I know you still are. I am eternally grateful for the gift of your friendship, unconditional love, and the laughter we shared. Because I knew you, I have truly been changed for good. Until we meet again. I love you, my brother and always will.
