Fr Tom was an answer to a prayer. He married my husband, Paul (Jewish) and myself, Pat (Catholic). He helped us get a Candor with our wedding. Friends said it was the best wedding ever……26 years later my husband converted. Fr. Tom told me the best advice ever…. Respect each others differences. Next month we will be married 49 years. I loved him so…

John 6:40-"For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day."
Soon the family will have the joy of seeing Thomas live forever on God's promised paradise earth where death will be no more. (Revelation 21:1-4)

Went to grammar school with Thomas at Holy Child Jesus in Richmond Hill. He was such a nice person and I never forgot him. Felt very bad about his passing. Never thought I would know such a good person, the closest to a saint that I will ever know.
I will never forget him.

Dear Hartman Family, My sincere condolences during this time of profound grief. I wish to tell you that your son(brother and Uncle) is a saint and went straight to heaven. I will begin by saying that I met Father Tom twice, Once about 15 years ago in Marshalls East Islip, My husband and I just smiled and said hello. Then again 12 years ago in Edward's East Islip. Father was already suffering from Parkinson's, and was accompanied be a lovely women who spoke to me about his foundation and that I could donate prayers or monetary. I asked Father if he would be so kind as to bless my newborn son, Steven. After blessing him, Father said my son was" a very special boy", and he is. I had something that I wanted to tell Father Tom , but didn't want to impose, as he was most likely always imposed upon. I said to myself "Lord, I will only approach Father if I bump into him again while shopping". I did, and I shared that I had heard Father speak on Telecare about some of the losses he had endured, and the diseases that affected and took some the members of the Hartman family. I shared that our lives were exactly parallel in that regard, and that he was my " brother" in our shared sorrow. I got choked up as I briefly shared how my loved ones passed in the same way. Father Tom so gently put his hand on my shoulder. He invited me to go to Christa house, he said he thought it would be good for me to do so. I asked what I could bring he replied" they always can use sheets and towels". I felt such peace after speaking with Father. I will never forget his patience and kindness towards me. I remember as he spoke with me , I felt in my heart , that I was speaking with a living saint. I have already asked your beloved Fr. Tom from heaven to be a special guardian to my son , to protect him and guide his path in life. Last night I had a dream of Fr. Tom and he told me "I made it!! I'm here in heaven, I am at total peace . Heaven is a place of such complete happiness. My brother came to meet me". I awoke with tears of joy this morning. I pray this gives you , his loving family, a small measure of comfort. But ,then again, we already knew that your Beloved Tommy is indeed a Saint. Thank you for sharing your son and brother with those of us that were graced by his presence . May God Bless and reward you all , Anna Marie Schadt

To the entire Hartman family,
I saw an angel fly home to God. To you he was "Tommy" but to those outside the family he represented the best kind of message a Catholic priest could ever hope to send to those that hear him. He represented hope, compassion and forgiveness for the many that were both of the faith and those not of the faith. He inspired many to "believe" in the human touch that he so beautifully lived his life of preacher by example. Over many years I had the good fortune to speak to him at a variety of functions, and it was always the same old Fr. Tom. He lived his life inspired by hope for and love of others and he never once failed to touch those he spoke to.
We have lost a wonderful man and friend. Rabbi Gellman has lost a great friend and your family has lost a son, a brother, and an uncle, but perhaps, our biggest loss is the loss of his wonderful example of what it is like to live such a faith filled life.
The angels have already put his wings on him. With my prayers to all of you.

Positive thoughts and prayers to the Hartman and Mohrman family. Father Tom was such a kind and caring person. His printed messages were an inspiration to so many. At a young age I remember his compassion in doing my grandmothers service of remembrance. My grandfather Harry Mohrman had such a fond affection for him and his kindness. Thank you for his kindness to our family. Gatherings with him were an inspiration. I am praying for you all and for all the lives he touched. God Bless you all.

I remember you Father Tom from early on as a young Priest at St. James in Seaford and your awesome yellow Camero :). However, I also remember your warmth, kindness, deep faith and genuine smile. I am so happy that you are now fully healed and at home with our Beloved Jesus. Please pray for us. We will miss you terribly, but will celebrate your homecoming to heaven.
I pray for your family, including your beloved Rabbi Marc Gellman. Be at Peace.
