Artie, my dear friend and tennis partner for just 3 years, feels like he was a life-long friend. Saying goodbye to him is a near impossible task. His spirit is everywhere--the heart of a truly gentle man and a gentleman, a spirit rooted in goodness few people have had the honor to know. From his early morning greeting and kiss to his endless efforts never to leave anybody out, I will miss him dearly. While tennis was his passion and supreme talent, the qualities we will always remember are his persistent kindness, his never speaking ill of anyone, his ability to appreciate the beauty around him and his miraculous life!
What a joy to have been able to share in his circle of warmth and generosity--
And to be his tennis partner--
For as he would whip one of his famous backhands down the line for a winner, I would turn around, bump fists with him and say "ESPN Highlight Reel"!
And, he will always stay right there, in the highlights of my mind,
Jeanette Walowitz

Dear Liberty,
Arthur was a treasured member of our weekly tennis game in Great Neck. Over the years, as we aged, we transitioned into mostly a social and discussion group, which we named the Mensch Club, meeting for breakfast and discussion monthly in a different Great Neck house each month; tennis became secondary and eventually a thing of the past. Because of Arthur's sweet personality and athletic ability, he was always a preferred partner. He was possessed of a rare character trait--humility. The world would be a far better place if more of us had his lack of hubris. We will all miss Arthur, that kind and gentle man. Our annual get-together at Candlewood Lake, Connecticut will be less joyful.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. May you, your children and all those who loved Arthur in the teachings of our tradition of remembering all of the good and happy days you had together. Let Arthur's memory be a blessing.
Meen hashamayim tehenoo khahmoo.

Dear Lee and family:
Art was a very special person Nd friend. For many years we shared the tennis court and stories of our lives. He talk Ed about his humble early life, and you and the family. We we planning for the day that we could have you again join us for a night of dancing. He said you were a great dancer.
He was proud that he was still working at age 80. The last time we played tennis we talked about his upcoming birthday on July 11, and that we looked forward to playing tennis next week. We w ere devastated when you called to tell us that Art could not play because of the accident.
We kidded that we had the same initials, AAA.
We are in Portugal and will not be able to visit with you.
May you have no more sorrows, and may you be comforted with only good memories.
