Obituary of Doris E. Gettler

Doris E. Gettler of Mineola passed away at 96 on Dec. 6, 2023.
Doris was predeceased by husband Joe, daughter Donna, and parents Dorothy and Frank Gertisser. She was the beloved mother of Joe (Laura) and Nancy (Paul). She was a loving grandmother to Laura, Paul, Joe (Erin), Danielle (Chris), Trisha (Tim), and Eric, and great-grandmother of nine.
Doris worked as an elementary school aide and later as a librarian. After retiring, she volunteered for Lutheran Braille Workers for more than 25 years. Doris loved her family and friends, reading, dancing, and the sun, sea, and sand of Hampton Bays. She also loved Mineola Public Library and deliveries from its Homebound Outreach Service.
Always in our hearts, she will be forever missed.
