Joan Braz, née Bentivegna, passed away on August 28, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born and raised in the Bronx and moved with her husband, Dick, to Little Neck, Queens to raise their family, eventually residing in Albertson, Long Island.  Joan was a beloved third grade Catholic School teacher for over 25 years at Sacred Heart School in Bayside, Queens. Family was the most important thing to her, and her love was abundant. She leaves behind her three devoted children, caring grandchildren, and sweet great grandchildren, as well as her precious dog Pepper. 

Joan enjoyed holidays spent with family, fun times in Pennsylvania golfing, swimming in the lake and eating at her favorite farm restaurant – Lukans, and outings to Butterfly World and Lion Safari in Florida with her grandchildren. She loved Hallmark movies, and knitting and crocheting blankets and outfits for her family. Joan was also an excellent cook who savored poached eggs, macaroni, chicken cutlets and spiedini. She was an avid reader, loved crosswords and eagerly played card games and mahjong whenever she could.

Joan was a very strong and caring example for all. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
