Natalie Ann McDermott Obituary

 Natalie Ann McDermott was born on February 4th, 1933 to William and Mary Fanning in Woodside, NY. She transitioned to spirit peacefully on June 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving children.

 In January 1957 she married William McDermott. They raised their five children in Great Neck, NY. Her loving husband passed away in January 1989. After a number of years she moved to Saratoga, NY to live with her daughter, Natalie. She spent her final eleven years living happily at The Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga, NY.

 Natalie graduated in 1955 from The College of Mount St. Vincent’s in NY with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing. During her life she worked in various positions as a registered nurse. She finished her career as a Psychiatric Nurse at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park, NY as well as performing private duty nursing. Upon her retirement she completed studies as a Chaplain. Her greatest joy was providing compassionate care and spiritual comfort to the patients at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica, NY.

 As a devout Catholic, she loved going to Mass each and every day and was a daily communicant.

 A devoted wife and loving mother, she is survived by her children Natalie Darrow (David), Sean (Sharon), William (Delia), and Colin (Jillian). Also blessed with and survived by grandchildren Sean Liam (Emily), Emma (Joseph), Connor (Alexandria), William Zachary, Kellan and Rory. Survived by great grandchildren, Logan Frankie and Claire. Natalie was pre- deceased by her husband, William P. McDermott, a daughter, Alanna McDermott and her brother, Robert Fanning.

 Always filled with joy and never complaining, she lived each day being prayerful and thanking God for her many blessings. She was a living example of accepting God’s love and His many graces. Her favorite mantras were, “Pray without ceasing”, “Give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God”, “In all things give thanks”, “Spread my love around”, and “Be good to yourself “.

 In lieu of flowers, the family request is to have Masses said in her name or give a donation to St. Jude’s.
