Antonio ""Tony"" Marini Obituary

On April 11, 2026, Antonio “Tony” Marini, passed peacefully at home at the age of 90.

Tony lived a full and rich life.  Born in Italy on March 12, 1936, to Rocco and Anna.  He was the fourth child out of five children.  His father was granted US citizenship an incentive while working in upstate NY to help build the railroad.

Tony and his younger brother were offered the opportunity for American Citizenship through their father’s status.  At the age of 14 he and his 12-year-old brother, Albert was sent to the US and settled in Ohio with a foster family.

The Fedeli’s became more than a foster family; they became part of their extended family.  The bond between the families continues to this day.

Tony dabbled in many different careers early on, taxi driver, bowling attendant, just to name a few and ultimately, he found his career path at Dalton Knitting Mills.  He also met his future wife, Giglilola at Dalton and in January 1960 they married.  By 1970, he had two children and his career options were limited in Ohio as the textile industry was stagnant.  Tony took a leap of faith and moved his family from Ohio where he had friends and family and opted to follow promising career opportunities in NY.  It was new beginnings; new friendships and the conviction this was the right move to make.  Flushing, NY became home for a short time and ultimately in 1973, the family moved to Manhasset Hills, NY.

His passion for the textile industry grew stronger and in 1980 he started his own company, T&R Knitting Mills.  Through perseverance and hard work, he built his company into a thriving business.

Aside from his business, Tony was passionate about bowling, golf and spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren.  He was a quiet man and one of few words but at times he was known to be a bit of a prankster.  He also enjoyed spending months at a time in St. Thomas, where he was able to enjoy his little piece of heaven for over thirty years.

He is survived by his wife Gigiola and two children, Anna (Ottavio) and Rocco (Josphine).  Ten grandchildren, David (Paulina), Greg,  Eric (Caroline), Anthony, Alexandria (Angelo), Michael, Christian, Daniel, Rocco Jr. and Olivia.  Three Great grandchildren, Adriana, Giuliana and Angelo Abballe.  Predeceased by Granddaughter, Danielle Marini and Great Granddaughter, Sofia Abballe.
