Donald T. McMahon Obituary
Donald Thomas “Skippy” McMahon was born in Mineola, NY on June 13th, 1932, one of four sons born to James and Mabel McMahon. His brothers James, John and Stewart predeceased him.
“Skip” left Mineola High School to join the United States Air Force in late 1949 and served as an Air Policeman during the Korean War being stationed at USAF bases on the east coast.
Upon his discharge, he made plans to marry the true love of his life, Patricia Ann “Patsy” Quinn of Williston Park, NY doing so in 1954. Together they purchased a small home in Roslyn Heights, NY and raised two children, Donald Thomas Jr and Patricia Ann “Patti Ann”. His wife Patricia passed in 2015, after 61 years of marriage.
He is survived by his son Donald Thomas Jr (Patty) and his daughter Patricia Ann Gale and his grand children Donald Thomas McMahon III (Theresa), Patrick McMahon (Samantha), Daniel McMahon, Allison Lametta (Mike) and Jonathan Gale (Abbey). He is also survived by two great grand daughters Charlie Rose McMahon and Olivia James Gale as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
“Skip” was a very proud veteran, he loved his Country and was a long time member of American Legion Post #144 in Williston Park. He was active in local Senior organizations, was well known for his singing and dancing abilities and his love of all animals, but above all he loved his family.
